The people came out and joined as one army. Saul mustered them at Bezek and they numbered 300,000 from Israel and 30,000 from Judah.
The next day at dawn they broke into the Ammonite camp.
And they slaughtered the Ammonites until the middle of the day.

Then the people said to Samuel, 'Where are those who said, Shall Saul reign over us? Hand those men over so we can put them to death!'
But Saul said, 'No one shall be put to death today.'
And the people all went to Gilgal where they made Saul king before Yahweh, offered sacrifices, and greatly rejoiced.
