One day the sons of God came to present themselves before Yahweh, and Satan was among them.<br>

Yahweh asked Satan, 'Where have you come from?' and Satan replied, 'Roaming about the earth, going here and there.'<br>

Yahweh said to Satan, 'Have you taken note of my servant Job? There is none like him on earth, perfectly righteous, fearing God and shunning evil.'<br>

Satan answered Yahweh, 'And not for nothing! You have put a protective wall around his family and his possessions, blessing his prosperity and increasing his wealth.'<br>

'But if you were to stretch out your hand and destroy everything he has, he would surely curse you to your face.'<br>

Yahweh said to Satan, 'Fine then, I put everything he has in your power. Only, do not harm the man himself.'<br>
