The three brothers were there, Joab, Abishai, and Asahel. Asahel could run as fast as a gazelle, and as he pursued Abner, Abner turned and asked, 'Is that you, Asahel?' And Asahel replied, 'It is!'
So Abner said to Asahel, 'Turn aside! Why make me strike you down? How could I face your brother Joab?'

War continued between the house of David and the house of Saul. David steadily grew in strength while the house of Saul became increasingly weaker.
