Samuel took a baby lamb and burnt it as a sacrifice to Yahweh, calling out to Yahweh on Israel's behalf.

As Samuel continued to offer burnt sacrifices, the Philistines approached.

But on that day Yahweh thundered powerfully against the Philistines, and threw them into a panic.

Samuel erected a stone between Mizpah and Shen, naming it Ebenezer, saying, 'Yahweh helped us up to this point.'

So the Philistines no longer came into Israelite territory. Samuel was judge over Israel all the days of his life. And there was peace between Israel and the Amorites.
