Samuel was ministering before Yahweh, a boy wearing a linen loincloth and a little robe his mother made him.
Now word from Yahweh was rare in those days and visions were uncommon. But one night when Samuel was lying down in the Temple of Yahweh, Yahweh called out, 'Samuel! Samuel!
Running to Eli, Samuel replied, 'Here I am, as you called me.'

'You are to tell him that I will condemn his family forever, for his sons have been cursing God, and he has not corrected them.'

Samuel then told him everything and hid nothing.
