Then Gideon said to God, 'If you will rescue Israel by my hand as you have promised--look, I am putting a wool fleece on the threshing floor.'

'If there is dew only on the fleece and all the ground stays dry, then I will know that you will rescue Israel by my hand, as you have said.'

So it happened. Gideon got up the next morning, squeezed the fleece and wrung out enough dew to fill a bowl.

Then Gideon said to God, 'Do not become furious with me if I make one more request. This time have only the fleece stay dry while the ground around it is covered with dew.'
