Yahweh spoke to Moses and said: "Make me a sanctuary so that I can reside among them. You will make it all according to the designs for the Dwelling which I shall now show you."

"You must make me an ark of acacia wood. You will overlay it, inside and out, with pure gold. You will cast four gold rings and fix them to its four supports. You will also make shafts of acacia wood and overlay them with gold and pass the shafts through the rings by which to carry it."
"You will also make a mercy-seat of pure gold, and you will model two great winged creatures of beaten gold, you will make them at the two ends of the mercy-seat."
"The winged creatures must have their wings spread upwards, their faces towards the mercy-seat."

"Inside the ark you will put the Testimony. There I will come to meet you, above the mercy-seat, from between the two winged creatures I shall give you all my orders for the Israelites."
All the work for the Dwelling was done exactly as Yahweh had ordered Moses. On the first day of the first month of the second year, the Dwelling was erected.
Moses took the Testimony and put it in the ark.

The cloud then covered the Tent of Meeting, and the glory of Yahweh filled the Dwelling.

At every stage of the journey, whenever the cloud rose from the Dwelling, the Israelites would resume their march.

If the cloud did not rise, they would not resume their march until the day it did rise.

Yahweh's cloud stayed over the Dwelling during the daytime. And there was fire inside the cloud at night for the whole House of Israel to see, at every stage of the journey.
