Now there was a priest of Midian with seven daughters.

They used to come to draw water and fill the troughs to water their father's flock.

Some shepherds came and drove them away.

Moses sprang to their help.

4 of 10 Exodus 2:17

And he watered their flock.

When they returned to their father Ruel, he said to them, "Why are you back so early today?"

They said, "An Egyptian protected us from the shepherds. He even drew water for us and watered the flock."

7 of 10 Exodus 2:19

He asked his daughters, "And where is he? Why did you leave the man there? Ask him to eat with us!"

8 of 10 Exodus 2:20

So Moses agreed to stay on there with the man, who gave him his daughter Zipporah in marriage.

9 of 10 Exodus 2:21

Zipporah gave birth to a son. Moses named him Gershom, he said, "because I am a stranger in a foreign land."
