Haran fathered Lot, and Abram took a wife named Sarai.  Sarai was infertile and had no children.
Haran died in Ur, land of the Chaldeans.  And Terah took his son Abram and his wife Sarai, and his grandson Lot, and they set out from Ur toward the land of Canaan.
When they reached Haran, they settled there. And Terah died in Haran after having lived for 205 years.
Then Yahweh said to Abram, "Leave your father's family for a land that I will show you. I will make you into a large nation. I will bless you and make you famous. I will bless those who bless you, and those who mock you, I will curse!"

And Abram left as Yahweh told him to. Abram was 75 years old when he left Haran, taking with him his wife Sarai, his nephew Lot, all the possessions they had accumulated in Haran, and all the people they had acquired.

When they came to Canaan, the Canaanites were living in the land at that time. Abram went as far as the oak tree of Moreh at Shechem.
