After a few days Paul said to Barnabas, 'Let's go back and visit the brothers in all the towns where we preached and see how they are.'

Barnabas wanted to bring along John called Mark, but Paul insisted they not take him because he had deserted them in Pamphylia.

The argument was so severe that they parted ways. Barnabas took Mark and sailed for Cyprus while Paul chose Silas and went through Syria and Cilicia.

Paul also went to Derbe and to Lystra. There was a disciple there named Timothy who was the son of a Jewish woman who was a believer and whose father was a Greek.

The brothers in Lystra and Iconium spoke well of him, and Paul wanted Timothy to come with him.

So Paul circumcised Timothy. This was because of the Jews in this area who knew that his father was a Greek.

They traveled through the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been forbidden by the Holy Ghost from preaching the word in the province of Asia.
